Most Relevant Book…Unfortunately

Aftermath follows the story of 12 year old Lucy, who is beginning a new school while simultaneously grieving the loss of her brother. She soon learns that her classmates are also grieving after experiencing the tragedy of a school shooting. Lucy makes friends and learns to navigate her grief in ways she never expected.

I don’t have to reiterate the events that happened Monday in Nashville, TN. We are all too aware. I myself was a student in a school shooting 15 years ago, and I am beyond finished seeing this happen time and again. I read this story two years ago and I’ve chosen to reread and annotate it today. I hate how relevant it is, but it beautiful captures how children feel loss, and how a tragedy can rock an entire community.
