🚗 JEJU — boring but necessary planning 🥱

This is my least fav part of planning but prob the most impt one. I always try to get the best bank for my buck without compromising on quality. Here’s some tips to keep your pocket happy 😊

🛫 Flights

Book your flight to Jeju early !! There are flights out from Gimpo > Jeju hourly everyday. If you book early, you can get the lowest fare at ~$60. We booked just a month before and also during peak period so we paid ~$190 for flights and that’s rly not worth it🙅🏻‍♀️ book early and save your money. Also, a tip is to carry your bags onto the flight instead of checking them in so you don’t waste time waiting on your bags. Security is not as strict for domestic flights and you may carry liquids/gels/aerosols on board. Just no sharp objects and you’ll be fine. Last thing is you need to be there only an hour before your flight !! So don’t hesitate to book early morning flights to maximise your time in Jeju. The express train to Gimpo (15min ride from Hongik Univ station) runs as early as 530 so a 0700 flight is perf 😎

💤 Accommodation

We stayed at heyy, seogwipo for 2 nights and we rly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is located at Seogwipo which is at the south of Jeju. The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel staff were sooo friendly and helpful. They provide water, toiletries and even a hairdryer in the room. The rooms average at ~$40/night which is super worth imo. They also have a reading room, a laundry room and microwaves but we didn’t use them. Parking is also free here so no extra cash spent if you are gonna drive in Jeju 🤑

🚗 Car Rental

I highly recommend driving in Jeju bc it’s much cheaper than hiring a driver or cabbing around. We booked our car online from Lotte rent-a-car and loved it bc it was cheaper than other companies and the process was so smooth and hassle free 🙌🏻 I took a screenshot of their website and 147,000 won for a SUV for a 3 day trip is soooo worth. That means ~$49/day !! You do need to return the car with a full tank of gas but gas isn’t as expensive here. We paid ~$30 for gas for our Kia Morning. Also, Lotte charges by hour so you can rent for the exact hours you need instead of paying per no. of days. The cars are equipped with English navigation so no worries about getting lost or finding parking. Lotte provides free airport shuttles so you j needa find the bus bay at the airport and they’ll take you to there. An important thing is to apply and bring your international driving permit when picking up the car !! If you forget, your travel buddies will not be happy 🫣 You’ll also need to provide credit card details so take note of that 💳

The faster you get this part sorted, the faster you can start planning the more exciting sights to see and cafes to go to in Jeju !! Save money here and spend it on better things🤘🏻
