After my midterms, I FINALLY had some time for myself and ofc I immediately went to cop tickets for train to JB 🤝

This guide revolves around KSL City & Mid Valley Southkey as I only had 1.5 days to escape from reality ☠️

1️⃣ SUSHI ZANMAI (Mid Valley @ Southkey)

NEED I SAY HOW WORTH THIS IS??! We also had some sashimi slices that only costs S$1+ per slice, and the total bill was only about RM100 > LESS THAN $30 FOR A QUALITY JAP MEAL 🤭🤭🤭

(however the service quality was not the best and we didn’t manage to try their salmon head as the kitchen forgot about it😐)

2️⃣ CHA LAO (Holiday Villa)

Conveniently located opposite KSL City, Cha Lao serves up really authentic Dim Sums and we definitely had a feast (we devoured it before we could get a pic😮‍💨). The bill came up to RM99 for 2 pax, and we felt it was rather affordable given how good dimsums in Singapore are really rare.

PS: ANYONE WHO KNOWS OF GOOD DIMSUM PLACES IN SG/JB PLS COMMENT THEM TOO SO I COULD GO TRY 🙆🏼‍♀️🙆🏼‍♀️🙆🏼‍♀️

3️⃣ DIN TAI FUNG (JB City Square)

At this rate, does DTF even need a recommendation…. Actually my first time having DTF in JB, and I was shocked by how affordable it is compared to having it in Singapore (literally a 1:3.5 rate exchange zzz)

My go-to is always the prawn-meat dumpling, super succulent & I love it with LOTS OF VINEGAR 🥹🥹

4️⃣ LOKLOK & RANDOM FRUITS (Outside KSL Hotel)

As we went for a KTV session and ended only about 11.30pm, we went to search for some supper food nearby our hotel, and happened to come across Da Cheng Lok Lok — AND HOW COULD WE NOT TRY?!

However, the food was not as wow-ing, we definitely had better lokloks in Singapore (e.g. Loklok 1991’s by Daniel & Meng; let me know if you would like a review on their food🫢🫢🫢it’s real good). We also copped some tiny apples(??) that were super crunchy from a local seller for only RM15!!

That’s a short guide for some food options nearby each other, and we surely had more snacks that were cheap && GOOD 🤍 To more travel guides in coming months 😉

Please comment if you have any cafes recommendations WITH GOOD MATCHA LATTES in JB, we’ll be there soon😎😎
