TIPS TO GET THE PERFECT SHADE MATCH EVERYTIME

Get the right shade every time with these sure fire tips !!

So, it's your first base product or if you're anything like me, you just can't for the life of you shade match yourself? Today Imma #spillthetea on some tricks and tips i've learnt over the years from watching too much youtube and or scrolling endlessly on tiktok and xiao hong shu at 3am. LOL

So we've always heard of people talking about "undertones" well what exactly are they? There are three types of undertones: warm, cool, and neutral.

1- Warm: includes golden, yellow, or peachy undertones.

2- Cool: includes pink, red, or blueish undertones.

3- Neutral: You're neutral if you're a mixture warm and cool.

First tip would be to stare at your veins on your wrists!

If you have green veins, you're likely to be warm

If you have blue veins, you're likely to be cool

If you have blueish green veins, you're likely to be neutral (as you have both)

Once you've figured out your undertones, don't rush to purchase them. Swatch them on yourself to see how well it blends into your natural skintone. I would suggest to swatch on your jaw near your neck but for this post i swatched on my wrist for best visibility. Have the swatch on you for abit and watch if it oxidises! (This would let you know if you should purchase a shade lighter to combat the oxidation!) Still unable to tell? Ask for help! don't be shy to ask to be shade matched! I got some help from the lovely Sephora staff and apparently im a neutral skintone with a dash of warmth – this means i should'nt go for yellow/warm toned foundations as most would be too warm for me. I was adviced to stick to neutrals as warm foundations would veer yellow on me. If you're a shy boy or girl, one sure fire way to get a good match is to bring your foundation or concealer that you love and just swatch away and find the closest match!
