My first ARC review!

*may contain spoilers in this review*

I have never read a zombie apocalypse book before but I love the TV shows & movies! AJ made me have a new obsession for reading these world, she starts from the beginning from the MC POV which I love so we have a sense of them right before it all goes down!

WARNING ⚠️ the gore is incredibly described to feel like you are watching it your own head. 🫶🏼😂

“The inhuman screams are multiplying at an alarming rate. Sirens are wailing in the background. Gunfire is popping and echoing in the night. It’s chaos.”

Oh man did the start of the world going to shit get my adrenaline going! One of the characteristics of the zombies is a fear of mine! We are to wonder why this happened, why there are differences in the zombies. I am waiting for the next book to learn more about these zombies and how they operate?

I love the raw humanity throughout the story so dang much! The mental health awareness is probably my favorite part! The reality of not everyone being a badass during something we have never experienced as I read FMC & MMC POV *chef kiss* 🤌🏼 we are not prepared for something like this and to allow us to feel the emotions the characters feel during this time while thinking any moment could be their last had me on edge! I relate in a way to Dahlia’s past of trauma (not close but just having it with an ex) so I’m ROOTING FOR HER TO HEAL!

I have found my new favorite MMC in this book. I might be in love but it made me realize how I can relate to Dahlia. Also, we immediately love apocalypse Barbie ;) we hate the stalker (you’ll find out about him) and I think everything is his fault and the reason for many of certain fates that happen.

I highly recommend this book for so many different reasons! I started this book in a reading slump and couldn’t put it down! Just what I needed! But man that cliffhanger 🫣 Only reason I couldn’t stay glued to it was it was a busy time for adult responsibilities 🧟‍♀️

The spicy 🌶️ is a slow burn but love every moment of that especially with a grumpy sunshine, morally grey MMC 😜 I am excited for the smut for these characters 🤣
