What’s on my shelf?

Shelf styling used to really intimidate me. I used to just throw as many items on a shelf thinking it would magically look good, but it usually ended up looking like a cluttered mess. (Although sometimes I am a fan of a good cluttered mess. It can definitely be a vibe if that's what you're going for). But when it comes to curating a purposeful "organized mess", there are actually a few very simple tips you can follow. Here are some that worked for me:

1. Group objects together that vary in shape and height to create visual interest.

2. Group objects in odd numbers. I don't know why this rule is a rule but it works!

3. Layer photos behind smaller objects to create depth.

4. Use books to create height. They are also a great way to show off a bit of your personality and interests.

5. Trailing plants aways looks great on a shelf. The trailing vines can also be used to frame objects below it.

At the end of the day, you're free to style your shelf however you like so take these tips with a grain of salt and let your own creative juices flow :)
