winter outerwear under $35 + outfit ideas ☃️

hi lemon8 friends, this is my first post here <3

i recently travelled to tokyo in december and i got many questions on my ig regarding my most worn pieces: my overcoat and leather jacket! they’re both from taobao, and i’m super happy with these purchases so i can’t wait to share about them.

1. light grey coat

price — $24.60

colour — 燕麦色 (aka oat, but it appears grey imo)

size i’m wearing — XS

this was hands down, my most worn piece during the trip! i brought 4 outerwear pieces with me on my 12 day trip (1 coat, 1 leather jacket, 2 puffers), and this was by far the most cozy and easiest to style. the coat makes your outfit look chic and put together immediately no matter what you layer under it. pairing it with heeled boots also elevates the overall look for a sophisticated feel ~

most of what i packed were staple pieces like knit sweaters, loose trousers, or midi skirts in neutral tones, so putting outfits together was really easy. my only dislike would be the fact that it started to pill in certain areas that experience more friction after long periods of wear, but it could probably be dealt with by using a lint remover.

2. faux leather jacket

price — $33.30

colour — black

the length of this jacket fits great on petite frames, although the sleeves are still pretty long. this was also fun to style on the trip, as it gives off a much more casual and youthful vibe as compared to the coat, which feels more elegant. plus i think it looks sooo cute with a sweater thrown over your shoulders! upon arrival, there is a weird odour on the jacket, but it goes away after hand washing & airing it.

the main flaw would be that it definitely doesn’t trap heat as well, so i’d suggest wearing extra layers inside along with gloves or scarves. however, that is what makes it so much more wearable in sg weather <3
