2 Favorite Book Tropes

There are two tropes that will alwaysss get me to buy the book! There’s a lot of others I love, like friends to lovers, grumpy sunshine, and soooooo many more. And there’s a few I’m not a fan of, like the unplanned pregnancy trope or miss communication. However, these two are my FAVORITE:

1. Workplace romance.

Even better that this is usually combined with grumpy sunshine, both of these examples have a touch of enemies to lovers too! Two of my favorite books with this trope are “The Fine Print” by Lauren Asher, and “By a Thread” by Lucy Score.

The Fine Print follows the story of Zahra and Rowan, as he try’s to renovate “Dreamland” in order to receive his inheritance. He’s her boss, it’s a workplace romance that features grumpy sunshine and enemies to lovers.

By a Thread is a steamy, swoony workplace romantic comedy with a grumpy boss hero determined to save the day and a plucky heroine who is starting to wonder if there might actually be a beating heart just beneath her boss's sexy vests. He gets her fired from her job, but then she ends up working for him.

2. Enemies to Lovers

While the first two examples also feature this trope, one of the best examples of it I have found so far is Twisted Hate by Ana Huang. SO GOOD! This is my favorite book in the twisted series.

Twisted Hate follows the hate-to-love romance between Jules Ambrose and Josh Chen. Jules and Josh both navigate dark pasts, betrayal, and the vulnerability that comes with committed relationships. And it is spicyyyy.
