read this before going to paris 🧳☁️

i recently spent four days in paris with one of my friends who did her exchange semester there & got some huge tips for anyone intending to visit soon — read on for bits on commuting & shopping! 📝

🚊 COMMUTING

✖️try not to sit by the doors — most people warn against this because if something's snatched from you, the person can run out immediately! 🏃🏻

✖️keep your belongings close and bag zipped ALWAYS. better to be safe than sorry!

✖️don't engage with any strange-looking people that approach you, including buskers etc. — pay special attention especially if some of them beg for cash while coming really close to you! 💶

✔️ buy your tickets in bundles of 10 for a small discount — this wasn't available at all stations but just check when you're buying your ticket! 🎟️

✔️ note disruptions/changes — this happened to us on the way to the city from the airport & we had to get an uber from a random town 🚕

🛍️ SHOPPING

— VINTAGE

✔️ le marais is a highly recommended neighbourhood to check out if you're interested in vintage fashion — there are MANY stores in the area including free'p'star, kilo store etc!

✔️ there are flea markets in the area sometimes so it's worth searching up to see if it'll be on when you visit. we explored one for almost an hour — it was huge and really interesting!

everyone's favourite affordable parisian brand that makes incredibly high quality leather bags!! 👜 you NEED to know this before heading down:

✔️ be prepared for a line – polene only has 2 stores in the world (paris & nyc), so lots of people come down to see the bags irl! (we waited around an hour slightly after lunchtime ⏰)

✔️ do your research beforehand on what bag you want! 📝 it's kinda messy and chaotic in the store as everyone just grabs whatever bag they want to try on, so i highly suggest going in knowing exactly what you want.

✔️when you're done picking, bring the bag to one of the round tables in the store and ask a sales assistant to bring a new piece for you — this might not be instructed to you, but you cannot just go up to the counter to pay! (i wasn't told anything...) 🤨
