styling a scarf as a shirt 4 ways

Today I’m showing you how I transform this vintage scarf into a wearable top! To start, you need a scarf. I thrifted this long rectangular one from Savers. Thrift stores have tons of vintage scarfs for only a few dollars, I’d definitely recommend searching there if you need one.

1. The Front Knot

To make this top, wrap the scarf around your back and tie two knots on the front. You can tuck in the remaining strands or layer them to form a flower like shape. This is one of my personal favs! It holds the girls firmly in place and creates a beautiful shape.

2. The Bandeau

Similar to the front knot, the bandeau you wrap the scarf across your front and tie knots in the back. Though this is relatively simple, it’s a classic top and can easily be paired with pants or a skirt. Personally I’d style with a maxi skirt and a pair of chunky boots!

3. Backless Flow

The backless flow is for my daring girlies who aren’t afraid of an open back. Wrap the scarf around your neck and secure the strands into your bottoms, by tucking them in or using safety pins. For additional security, secure each side at the middle with safety pins. I love this look since it’s unique and daring. For more coverage, you can add a cardigan or jacket to cover your back.

4. Strapless Drape

Last but not least, the strapless drape. To make this top, wrap the scarf around your back and secure each side at your sternum using safety pins. Only secure them at the top so you’re left with a flowy silhouette that adds more texture and excitement to the top.
