In my quest to curate a vintage closet full of unique pieces, I’ve fallen down the eBay auction hole. As they say, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and I have wholeheartedly applied that logic to eBay auctions. If the starting bid is low, it doesn’t hurt to place a few bids. You can even set your highest bid so it’ll automatically up your bid if someone else joins the bidding war. I ended up being the only bidder on this dress and got it for only $50(🎉). So, let’s style it for summer, shall we?
Outfit 1:
Keep it classic. The dress is great, so why not let the dress do all the talking? I kept it super simple, no accessories, and just added my favorite Frye leather boots (another great eBay find for only $40) to keep it from being too fairycore.
Outfit 2:
I got this suit vest from Second Street and have been struggling to style it. It’s backless and has a built in tie at the waist, so I figured it was great with the dress. It keeps me somewhat covered, but you can still see the back details. I added a 90s gold chainmail belt from Unearth Vintage to cinch my waist, and finished it off with my inch2 combat boots from Vestiaire.
Outfit 3:
I’ve recently been really into mixing fancy pieces with much more casual items to create a contrast in my outfits. Here, I paired a super old Brandy Melville graphic Led Zeppelin tshirt (I’ve had this since middle school) with the skirt. I didn’t want it to be TOO boxy, so I added a thrifted leopard belt to add a little bit of shape. I finished it off with an oversized Dooney and Bourke denim monogram bag and my Frye boots yet again.
Outfit 4:
It was unseasonably chilly today, so I broke out the denim jacket. The dress is great for slightly cooler temps because the skirt has layers of lace to add a little bit of protection against the wind. To keep me warmer on top, this 90s denim jacket is great because I can wear it buttoned and belted to add coverage, or I can wear it open once the sun comes out but I don’t want to JUST wear the dress. And I of course added the Frye boots to finish it off!
