Sis just attended the recent assessment on 15 July held at Singapore Airlines Training Centre!

Note that whatever I'm sharing here is just based on my own personal experiences.

So to be invited down for their assessment, you'd have to apply online on their career page first. Once you're shortlisted, they will send you a link to do an online video interview which consists of answering scenario questions, why you want to be a cabin crew with Singapore Airlines, reading a passage, and also showing your full body.

✅ Do apply makeup for the ladies, as well as dress appropriately even for this video interview!

I think it took about 1.5 - 2 weeks before they sent me an email to tell me I've been shortlisted to come down to their assessment centre for their next round of interviews! (refer to my photo)

Now this was the nerve-wrecking part 🥵

Backstory, this isn't my first time going through their assessments, it's my 5-6th time trying. The previous times were back in year 2016-2017?

So my assessment was scheduled at 10am, I reached about 9:30am (advised to reach about 15-20 mins earlier) in case there was a queue at the security guard house for registration.

After entering SIA compound, I was directed to a theatrette to be seated first, so I just sat where a staff guided me to sit. This is where you can make or initiate small talk with the person or people sitting around you. It would be even more awkward if you don't speak to the person next to you 😂 then we wait for our rows to be called and enter another room.

Yes, there's lots of waiting in between so do eat something light before attending your assessment and bring water as well bcuz you'll get thirsty from all the talking 🤪 I reached about 9:30am and was done before 1pm?

Next, we proceeded to the first stage of assessment which was the height and reach test. When I entered the room, my first reaction was why the line so high 🤡🤡🤡 so I kissed the 158cm minimum height requirement (for the ladies), and was given a second attempt at reaching for the black line above (easily 208~212cm) Thank god I managed to touch it.

✅ I knew I had difficulty reaching as I failed their reached test before, so I measured a good 212cm at home and put a tape marking on my wall and stretched everyday for at least a week!

Next, we hand over our application form to the staff and wait for our names to be called out while waiting in another room. The people called out together with you will be in the same group as you. There are 6 of us at this stage.

So the 6 of us were directed to sit down outside one of the rooms. We knew this was gonna be the debate room. Just not the question posed 🤡

During this period, we just talked to each other to calm each other down, would be great if you get each other's names first at least, so you can introduce your team mate in your debate round easily later on 👍

Once our group was called in, we sat in order of how our names were called out. There were 2 assessors in this round.

✅ If you're the first person entering the room, do hold the door for the rest of your team mates to enter.

✅ Those entering, please rmb to say your thank yous. THE ASSESSORS ARE WATCHING YOUR EVERY MOVE.

Once seated (please sit properly 😂 if you need to, see how you look when you sit and stand in front of a mirror), we were told that this is a debate round (3 vs 3) and we would need to introduce ourselves + state a point for/against our given statement which was "Money can buy happiness" and damn, my team was against it but actually deep down I was FOR IT 😂 BUT its ok, we had about probably 10 mins to discuss and present our points.

✅ While discussing, the assessors are assessing how you interact with your team mates. I feel that eye contact is very important, as well as maybe nodding your head hahahaha. Basically, be a good listener and don't cut into someone while they talk. DON'T BE RUDE 🤡

✅ So when it was my turn, I simply just introduced myself confidently *rmb eye contact and smile* and thanked my previous team mate for his point and proceeded to state mine. I only said one point bcuz that was what the assessors said. Don't talk too much nor too fast. If you need to, practice your speech with a friend or infront of a mirror!

After we were done, we left the room for ANOTHER ROOM while waiting for the results. This is where they will eliminate people. Only 2/6 of us passed this round.

Next is the Management round (2 assessors to 1 interviewee). Honestly, I was so so nervous bcuz sis always failed at this round 😆 but anyway, I tried to stay as calm as possible before they called me in. I took like 2 deep breaths before entering the room 🤡

When I entered, of course greet your assessors with a big smile and say "GOOD MORNINGGG", and sit down properly once again on the chair 😂 I placed my things on the floor so I wouldn't fidget around. Honestly, just be yourself and don't let the jitters get the better of you and answer their questions sincerely.

My assessors posed me these questions (pretty much in order bcuz sis memory v good HAHA):

- What brings you here today?

- What difficulties or challenges do you think you will face being a cabin crew?

- One of the assessors asked me a scenario question as well. "You see a Mother trying to soothe her crying baby. What would you do?"

- How young are you?

- Why do you think you failed your previous rounds? (Because they know I applied before)

- Do you have any questions for us?

✅ A tip to answer is to always back your answers up with an example from your previous/current workplace to show that you know what they are looking out for, even if it hasn't happened to you, try to give a logical answer to show your critical thinking skills.

✅ I actually said I'm sorry, I'm not so sure to one of the questions posed to me but I did try to wing the negative out with a positive statement. I think it's important to be honest as well.

So I sat outside the room and waited for the results which took probably less than 10 mins and I was told I passed and could move on to the Kebaya fit check.

In the kebaya fit check, a staff will pass you a kebaya and sandals to try on (sis wore the largest size they had cuz I fat LOL) then headed to another room where they checked your weight, how you looked like wearing and walking in the kebaya, as well as your skin and smile/teeth.

For skin, they checked my face, hands, the neck and back area. All was good except my weight 🤡 So I was told by 2 staff that I had to lose at least 8kg. HAHA oh my god. Never in my life could I exercise nor diet properly but no choice if I want to fly 🤡🤡🤡

After that I changed back out and was told I'd be put on review and that I need to lose my 8kg within the next 6 months, or even better if earlier. They also emphasised a lot on losing weight healthily and etc. I met a few girls who had to be put on review to gain weight as well. As long as you're in a healthy range BMI, I guess you'll be okay!

So I gave myself a 4 months frame to lose 2kg each month. I hope this was helpful and let me know if you have any other queries! ☺️

Jiayou to all who'd like to try or are attending their cabin crew interviews!
