My journey

After graduating from FAMU in 2023 🎓, I was excited to start my career as a medical assistant at a dermatologist’s office 🩺. It felt like the perfect job to help me pursue my dream of becoming a PA. But being 1 of only 3 Black women there made me feel out of place at times, and imposter syndrome hit hard 😔. I constantly questioned my intelligence and capabilities. Eventually I was forced to quit.

A couple months later , I got hired as a PCT at DaVita Kidney Care 🏥. At first, it seemed like an amazing opportunity, but the early mornings(5am), hard labor, staffing shortage, rude patients, and toxic work environment took a toll on me. I realized that healthcare management needs real change—change I want to help make. I recently resign from my position as a PCT and landed a WFH job in health insurance!

That’s why I’m now back at FAMU working toward my Master’s in Health Administration 📚💼, so I can be part of that transformation.

Post grad isn’t an easy journey to navigate what so ever. I have had many ups and downs trying to figure out where I belong and where I want to be within the health care industry. #postgrad #postgradlife #healthcare #Lemon8Diary
