Step One: Sauce

In a large Pot w/Lid

1. On Medium Heat: add ground beef, sausage, chopped onion, minced garlic and 1tsp sea salt. Brown meat well, drain and let stand 5 minutes.

2. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, crushed tomatoes and water. Add sugar, basil, fennel, seeds, Italian seasoning spice mix, 1 tsp salt, pepper, and 2tbsp parsley. Cook covered for 90 minutes, string occasionally.

3. While cooking, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water. In a medium mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, remaining parsley (about 2 tbsp) and one tsp salt.

PREHEAT TO 375

In a 9 x 13 baking Dish; spread 1&1/2 cups meat sauce. Arrange six lasagna noodles, lengthwise over sauce. Gently spread 1/2 of ricotta cheese mixture over noodles, top with 1/3 of shredded mozzarella cheese.

Pour one and a half cups sauce over cheese. Repeat for the next layer and top layer of sauce.

spread the final 1/3 cup mozzarella and Parmesan cheese is over the top. Cover tightly with foil ensuring foil does not hit the cheese.

Fake 30 minutes covered. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 25 minutes. Let’s stand 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
