Christmas is about being around family and loved ones, and appreciating their time, presence and efforts. It is a special occasion that usually revolves around food (and a lot of it). But, it is not a day to fear. Christmas food is in my opinion, some of the best food I eat in the year. It is delicious and special, as our loved ones have taken time to prepare it for us to enjoy. It is a day where you should be present and enjoy all the delicious food that is on offer. Like glazed ham, turkey, roast potatoes and all of the yummy sweets. There is no harm in indulging in these foods one day in the year. It will not effect your progress. I don’t limit myself on Christmas or any holiday, and I don’t think you should either.

This is what I ate this Christmas, to fully enjoy myself.

Breakfast – I started off the day with a protein smoothie bowl and a cinnamon scroll. I used frozen berries, Greek yogurt and protein powder in the smoothie bowl, and topped it with coconut, pepitas and goji berries in the shape of a Christmas wreath. I picked up the most delicious cinnamon scroll from my favourite bakery near me. These are warm and delicious and I love to get them every Christmas and Easter as a special treat.

Lunch – The festivities started with cranberry cocktails. I made these with gin, cranberry juice, lime and komucha. They were delicious and festive. I had 3 of these throughout the day. Lunch was a big plate of Christmas specialties – glazed ham, turkey, stuffing, roasted carrots and roasted sweet potato and feta salad. I had two plates of this. The turkey this year was so good!

Afternoon Tea – Later in the afternoon, I served myself more of the sweet potato salad because it was so tasty.

Nibbles – The Christmas celebrations continued with some champagne and cherries. I had 3 glasses of champagne and some very sweet cherries.

Dinner – I had some crayfish, marinated in chilli lime dressing, as well as a serving of sweet potato feta salad and rice salad with corn and sultanas.

Dessert – Our traditional Christmas dessert in Australia is pavlova. This year we topped it with berries and passionfruit. It was so good that I had to go back for seconds.

No guilt, just delicious food all day.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!
