DIY Etched Glassware

I thrifted some gorgeous vintage style drinking glasses for $2 and I wanted to turn them into a custom gift by etching them using etching cream. I purchased a bottle of etching cream called Armour Etch for $10 at Michaels, but you can also find it on Amazon.

I started by adding sticky stencils to the glasses. You can also find these at some craft stores or Amazon. I added a thick layer of cream to the glass (make sure not to get it anywhere that you don’t want etched) and let it sit for 5 minutes.

When using etching cream, always wear a high quality mask (a respirator if possible) and gloves to protect your skin.

After 5 minutes, rinse the cream off of the glass and peel away the stencils. You will see your designs etched right onto the glass. The etching is permanent and will not come off! You can etch so many different glass items, it’s such a fun DIY to try out.
