My best friends’ wedding 🏹🫶🏼

Two of my best friends got married in Tybee Island Georgia, and I had the pleasure of being the “best man.” Since I’m a cis woman, I decided to go with a little bit of a campy approach and wear a tuxedo-inspired ensemble.

Jean Paul Gaultier released a reproduction of the 90s sheer tennis suit top in 2021 and I was able to find one for sale at a major discount on Depop. I paired this with some vintage pinstripe trousers that I had in my closet for years, and some black heeled sandals that I purchased for about $30 on Asos. under the sheer top I wore a little black bralette.

It was important that the outfit be comfortable and breathable because it was an outdoor wedding in the summertime. I also sang at the wedding and needed to be able to move and perform.

I matched my nails and toes to the blue color in the top for fun, put my hair in gelled space buns, and wore a sharp winged eyeliner.

The dress code for this wedding was just “fabulosity”. Everybody was encouraged to wear clothes that expressed their personality and it was incredible to see how extra and totally chic everybody looked. It was a beautiful queer wedding that truly made a statement. Much to my surprise, the photos ended up being published in Vogue Weddings. They did a write up on the entire event, and pictures of the wedding party were all featured on the website.
