What to do in NYC (springtime edition 🌷)

New York I’ve lived in New York for eleven years and every spring I pretty much live like a tourist in my own city. I try to romanticize the nice weather and do everything I can to feel like the main character because…well, that’s my right as a New Yorker.

Here are some of my favorite things to do when the weather is nice in NYC.

1. Go to the farmer’s market. Some of the best and most affordable produce you’ll find in the city is at these markets, and they’re great places to get some outside time and take cute pics. I know the Union Square market is open Saturdays and Sundays, and there’s one in Grand Army Plaza by Prospect Park in Brooklyn every Saturday, too.

2. Shop for used books. NYC is full of used books stores in pretty much every neighborhood, but a good go-to is The Strand, which is right by Union Square.

3. Have a park picnic. Name a park, any park. I’m partial to Prospect bc I’m a Brooklyn girl, but there’s always Central Park, Washington Square, Riverside, or any of the other smaller parks in your neighborhood. Getting outside is key.

4. Check out the botanic gardens. The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens are beautiful this time of year, and there’s also the New York Botanic Gardens in the Bronx.

5. Go for a bike ride. Citi Bike is one of the best ways to see the city. I recommend the Hudson River Greenway :)

6. Attend a baseball game. Yankees or Mets, who really cares? It’s just fun to get outside, eat a hotdog, and be a part of something iconically NY.

7. Go to a rooftop party. Rooftop season is the best season in the city! Find a friend with a roof deck and organize a gathering, or check out a public rooftop garden.
