Hi lemon🍋✨ today I’m going to share with you the recipe to make an authentic Chinese rice dumpling (also called “bak cang” in Hokkien dialet) that Chinese will eat on the fifth day of fifth lunar month to celebrate the Dragon boat festival!🐲

Basically, bak cang is made with glutinous rice with sweet or savoury fillings wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves🌿

Making bak cang is relatively easy, except for the time commitment to prepare and cook it 👀 I’m going to simplify the process and jump into the wrapping session to show you how a bak cang is wrapped which is the most challenging and exciting part🤩

Steps to follow☝🏻

1. Form a cone shape by layering two leaves together and folding them up at the center of the leave on top to form a cone

2. Fill up the cone with glutinous rice at the bottom, follow by putting other ingredients

3.Cover the fillings with glutinous rice

4. Fold down the leave to close the cone,press it firmly, so it will not fall apart and get a tight seal

5. Lastly, secure the shape of the bak cang with a twine

Now, you are done with the wrapping🙌🏻 All you need to do is to cook the bak cang by steaming for around an hour⌛️then you can enjoy a delicious sticky rice dumpling!👏🏻😙
