How we celebrated our 1st Year Anniversary!

It’s our wedding anniversary!

We did not think about how we wanted to celebrate our anniversary until a couple months before. 😅 For our dating anniversary, we wanted to create a tradition of going for nice hotel buffets. But that eventually phased out as we did not keep up with it, especially during covid years.

Since we decided to leave our honeymoon for year 2026, I suggested to go for a short getaway. Phuket was first choice as it was also our first trip together as a couple. We even had an awesome resort picked out, but could not justify the budget for a short 3D2N trip. We also wanted to find a different destination, as we’ve been to Thailand at least 3 times in the last couple of years! Somehow we landed on Desaru, which seemed perfect for a short vacation, and here is how we celebrated our special day:

1. Woke up early to catch the sunrise but it was too cloudy. So we chilled and had our Nespresso capsule coffees. 🌅☕️

2. Went for our resort’s breakfast (will do another review post specifically on our resort stay) and went back to nap/nua a little a bit. 🍳🥓🥐

3. Headed to the infinity pool for cocktails and M had been eyeing the buffalo wings, which was awesome! Dipped in the pool to take some photos. Had more cocktails. 🍸🥃

4. We got dressed up and headed out for Omakase at a neighbouring resort! K was so excited cuz it’s her first time and the resort was apparently the most expensive (and exclusive! Security was super tight) on the island and had its own beach club. Should we also do another review post on the Omakase itself? 🍣

5. Went back and was greeted with a simple decoration by the turn down service staff which was so sweet and thoughtful 🥰

It was a really quiet and relaxing getaway which felt really perfect for us while we save up for a more extravagant Honeymoon. Can’t wait for our next anniversary celebration already, any suggestions of what to do next? 😊🫶🏻
