📢 PSA : Things I wish I knew before going to Taiwan this Summer!

P.S trigger warning at the last post (a lot of mozzie bites which’s quite gross to the eyes)

Hey zesties! Just got back from Taiwan this week and wanted to share two things I wish I knew before going this summer. Prep yourselves because it's a total PSA for all you summer Taiwan travellers out there!

📣1️⃣ The Weather!!! ☀️🥵🔥

Let's talk about the weather, fam! It was scorching hot, like 37 degrees average and felt like 43. Major ugly tanlines alert! Stay hydrated, bring shade like an umbrella (yes, we know it's for rain but trust me on this one, you’ll thank yourself later) or rock a cap and sunnies 🕶️🧢

Do plan your itinerary with plenty of cooling spots like shopping malls to beat the heat. No one wants to spend the entire day under the blazing sun, believe me! Oh, and if you have a mini portable fan, you're winning at life. I wish I had one, tbh.

Honestly, it was hotter than Singapore (surprise, surprise!). Afternoons were like stepping into an oven. Don't forget to apply LOTS and LOTS of sunblock for your body and sunscreen for your face. Your skin will thank you later.

Lesson learnt for me: Avoid Taiwan in summer unless you're a heat lover. We had to get creative and spent two days at a cat cafe just to escape the scorching heat. 🐱😅

📣2️⃣ Beware of the Mosquitoes, 小黑文🦟

Listen up, y'all! If you're heading to Jiufen or Shifen (those mountain areas), please, pretty please, be careful of those tiny mozzies buzzing around. I made the mistake of wearing a crop top and shorts to beat the heat, and boy, did I pay the price! Those sneaky buggers left me with countless itchy bites that swelled up and turned angry red. 🤦‍♀️

Lesson learnt: If you're in those areas during summer, please please protect your legs with long pants or spray some mosquito repellent!! Trust me, you don't want to spend the rest of the trip scratching like crazy. Thankfully, they spared my arms, so that's one less worry. I’m not sure about other seasons though if they’ll appear.

So, if you're planning a summer trip to Taiwan, take care of yourself and stay prepared. Stay cool, stay bite-free, and enjoy your trip! ✌️💖
