✨ Distract yourself ✨

Bring something to keep your mind occupied during the flight, such as a book, movie, or playlist. You can also try puzzles or technology. (For me, my ideal distractions are the following: Manga, a light novel or an Audible book. I have my portable charger and Nintendo Switch in my carry-on, incase I need to zone out with something different. A cold beverage, protein snack, having the A/C on and music I can vibe to always helps give me some mental peace)

Pro tip: Remember to stay aware of your surroundings and set reminders to periodically check on your flight - incase you really get in the zone.

✨ Identify your triggers ✨

Figure out what part of flying is most frightening for you so you can manage your fear when you're less anxious. (For me, worrying about being late or feeling rushed is a major trigger - pack informed, pack early with a checklist, check on your flight periodically for any changes and allow yourself 2 hours minimum for domestic flights in the 🇺🇸 I like to be within 10-15min of whatever airport I am departing from, so grab a hotel if you are able and it is convenient).

Pro tip: Avoid movies involving airplanes ✌🏻lol.

✨ Educate yourself ✨

Flying is safe. Another thing for you to keep in mind is that serious flight problems are EXTREMELY rare. Flying is safer than driving or traveling by train (in part because safety is built into the design of everything from air traffic control to the airplane itself). I like to read about how planes work (gravity, drag, lift and thrust) and knowing the statistics helps me 📉. I like to become an expert of what I am afraid of (ask me about tornadoes sometime lol).

Pro tip: Breathe and remind yourself that domestic flights are the safest mode of transportation. You most likely get in a car multiple times a day and that is a 1/101 chance. You would need to fly every day for more than 10,000 years to be in a fatal plane crash.
