living the best uni life: hall experience + tips!

i just finished my first year in uni and i must say the biggest part of my experience so far is definitely: HALL LIFE‼️🤩🥳

disclaimer: this is purely based on my own experience and may differ from others!

• friends

i personally find it difficult to make friends from class. even in project groups we just get the work done and stop talking after submission🥲 so all my uni friends are from hall!! my friends are all fun & vibey, we are all also very willing to help one another with school work!

• fun

my hall has quite a number of events like performances💃🎤, halloween👻 and night cycling🚴‍♀️ you’ll get lots of opportunities to bond with your friends and have lots and lots of fun tgt! great way to unwind from the academic stress :)

• new experiences

hall is a great place to step out of your comfort zone and try new things! i am NOT a sports person but i decided to try out floorball! started out with 0 experience but ended up being in the team for interhall games! i also have friends that picked up dance and cheerleading for the first time and now have a strong passion for them👍🏻

• studies

hall is not all about playing❌ i have a lot of friends that are hustlers and spend their days studying in the library!! (hall commitments are usually in the night) if you dont want to disrupt your studies you just really need to plan your schedule well, time is very precious here🕙

• orientation camps

if you’re an incoming freshies PLEASE GO for the orientation camps! it’s important to get to know the hall better and see if it’s your vibe as it’ll be your home for the next semester! its a good chance to meet friends and seniors that can pull u in ;)

overall, i would say how your hall experience will turn out boils down to your own choices — the friends you make, the events and ccas you choose to take part in :)
