My Big Brother Passed Away

It was April 16th, 2018 when mine and my families life changed forever. We got a phone call we never thought possible. My brother took his own life. The doctors tried everything they could possible for an entire week, but declared him brain dead on April 21st, 2018. He was then taken off machines and donated his organs to help those in need.

I’m never sure how much to talk about when it comes to this. It’s such a sensitive subject, but mental health is such a serious thing and it needs to be advocated for.

My brother passed and the whole dynamic of my family changed. To this day we all still grieve him deeply. We talk about him and reminisce on the memories we shared.

I was one of the last people to talk to him that day. I text him at 5pm, telling him I loved him, which he replied ‘I love you too!!!’ and by 9pm he was gone.

I will never understand while I’m here on earth, why he had to be taken so soon. He was only 29, with children he loved so deeply and who loved him. His oldest was 10 at the time and he’s now almost 17.

I just hope wherever he may be, he’s at peace, and I hold on to the hope that one day we will be reunited again.

I love you forever big brother. Thank you for always being the best guardian angel.
