My Payday Routine

Let’s discuss everyone’s favorite day, payday! Before I do anything with my paycheck, I like to go through a review to make sure I’m set up for success for the next two weeks until my next paycheck.

1. I review what’s leftover in my checking account from my last paycheck and review the money that will be getting deposited. My deposits come from both my full-time job and side hustles.

2. At each paycheck I save half of my rent, so that it’s not all coming out of one paycheck each month. I also review my credit card balance, as I put all my expenses on it for the points, but I make sure that I pay it off in full by the statement due date.

3. I review my saving goals for the month and year. Depending on what’s remaining, I’ll transfer money to my high-yield savings account for those goals.

4. Lastly, I make sure that I leave a good buffer in my checking account for miscellaneous expenses or any auto-payments that will occur between now and my next paycheck.
