Lemme share my own experience 🤔

Before joining the insurance line, I was working as a financial consultant in a bank. Both roles are somewhat similar as we are helping people to plan for their finance, but there are still a lil bits of differences in these two roles. 🤝🏻 So, I would like to share some of the differences between Bankers and Insurance agents, and why I chose to leave the bank. 🏦

Working in the bank, you have long working hours and a fixed workplace; you have to wear formal clothing everyday so that you look smart in front of the customers as you are representing the bank and you will be paid a fixed basic salary every month. 💵 Whereas for an insurance agent, you are self-employed, you have full control of planning your own time, flexible dress code and more independence! 👨🏻‍💻 #difference

We associate banks with opening and closing accounts, placing fixed deposits and withdrawing large sums of money. However, do you know that banks do offer insurance as well? But wait, isn't that like insurance companies? Well you’re not wrong. Insurance companies work closely with the bank. For e.g. OCBC offers Great Eastern products because Great Eastern is a member of OCBC Group. However, the banks are mostly focused on wealth products that will help you to gain more interest from your capitals. 💰 #banking

Whereas for insurance companies, they are more holistic as they do not just offer wealth planning but also offer health, life and term insurance plans that can cater to your needs. At the same time, agents out there are also trying our best to reach out to clients to update and share knowledge of each policy. #insurance ⛑️

Well, for me, I used to work in a local bank. The working environment is quite nice as you will get to know a lot of people working in different roles under the same branch, the people are also very bonded as we see each other for 6 days in a week. But one thing that limits me in the bank is that you're there to serve customers and to sell them wealth insurance (banks focused on wealth products). Thus, if a 40s auntie/uncle comes in and you found out that actually he/she isn't well protected, then that product might not help that particular person (My POV). As for now, I moved to an insurance company whereby I see the need of helping more people in a holistic way as compared to before. 🔍🔎 #experience

Being an agent has a very flexible schedule, which reminds me that YOU NEED TO HAVE THE DISCIPLINE! 💪🏻
