How to spend 2 days in PETRA

Petra is a HUGE ancient city in Jordan It’s also one of the oldest cities in the world. There is ALOT to see and you need at least 2 days to see it all.

Day 1: get driven up to the very back end of Petra where “

little Petra” is. This way you can walk down through Petra from the back instead of walking all the way up to The Monastery and back down.

Take a look at little Petra there and then you can get shuttled down a few miles to the monestary or hike it. It’s a long hike but really really beautiful at times. You can get lunch at the monestary as well.

You will then pass through tons of little shops and sellers with so much to look at and buy. This is a great place to do some shopping. You’ll be walking through the canyon and you’ll pass The Treasury and go out through the slot canyons.

Day 2: Go back in through the front at sunrise/opening to see the treasury without the masses of people. You will see it on day 1 but there will be so many people around it won’t be as enjoyable.

You can go to several viewpoints with the guides if you choose. The lower view on the left side doesn’t require a guide if you just go over there and follow the little trail. The very top view may be a good idea to have a guide as the hike is a little sketchy.
