sunset spot with great Italian food: fico👨🏻‍🍳

I managed to clutch a reservation at Fico 3 days before my booking date 😜 The tip is to check their website for slots everyday as they might release some closer slots due to cancellations etc. I booked a 5.30pm slot in the alfresco dining area for the sunset views however unfortunately it was raining 🥹 but it was really cooling with the slight drizzle and sea breeze!

What we ordered:

✿ San Marzano Tomatoes Focaccina ($23)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The focaccina was soft, light and fluffy! The slices of burrata paired well with the san marzano tomatoes, which was a delightful blend of tart and sweet flavours! Wished the slices of burrata were abit bigger though. This was quite filling for 2 pax.

✿ Mafaldine ($30)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Must order if you’re into more tangy flavours, very similar to beef ragu as they use Ossobucco (braised beef). The mafaldine was done perfectly, al dente! Loved the chewiness of it.

✿ Charcoal-Grilled Octopus ($36)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Best. Grilled. Octopus. I’ve. Ever. Had. I’m not even kidding it was juicy, succulent, grilled to perfection, and I like how they didn’t season the octopus too much that you can still taste the natural, slightly briny flavours of the octopus. SO TASTY! It was also done just nice, not over or underdone.

✿ Pork Loin ($43)

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kinda reminded me of the caifan roasted pork, tasted pretty much like it but less fats haha. I’m not the biggest fan of pork, but this was nice! Hmm probably will skip this the next time because there’s nothing super special about it.

✿ Desserts: Pistachio Cannoli & Dark Chocolate Soufflé Tart ($15 for 2)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wasn’t expecting their desserts to be such a hit!! The dark chocolate soufflé tart was decadent and rich with heavy flavours of the dark chocolate. Recommend to share this though, it can get a little surfeiting after a few bites. The cannoli was sooooo refreshing and not too sweet. The pastry dough was not too hard yet not too flaky, easy to bite into. Highly recommend getting their desserts!

Overall we really enjoyed the food, but gotta admit it’s slightly pricey (spent about $200 in total). For the breezy seaside view and quality food, I’d say it’s worth it. Would definitely love to visit again for a special occasion!
