New Zealand has a lot of different activities, which most are free! Here are some things we’ve done that we loved!

✨All prices are per person and in New Zealand dollars. ✨

⭐️Hamilton Gardens: A beautiful garden located in Hamilton with many different themes including a Japanese Garden, Indian Garden, and recently an Egyptian garden! Best part about it is… it’s free!

⭐️ Blue Lake: A perfect place to swim in Rotorua! I would recommend to to when it is really nice weather because the water is very cold!

⭐️ Redwoods: Close to Blue Lake, the Redwoods is a peaceful place to walk. They have many trails you can do for free. You can also do a tree walk, which is a canopy walk up in the trees. There is a day walk and a night walk but there is a fee.

⭐️ Polynesian Spa: Probably one of our favorite places in Rotorua! You can relax in 8 different pools with temperatures reaching up to 41 degrees celsius. Make sure to go a little before the sun sets because the view is amazing!

⭐️ Kuirai Park: If you want to see more natural hot pools but don’t want to pay… this is the place for you! It’s a park in the middle of the city with so many different hot pools! Of course they are too hot to go in, but make sure to check out their biggest pool! So steamy!

⭐️ Hobbiton: Probably the most well-known spots! It is quite pricey but if you are a fan… definitely check it out! Right now they are doing construction so maybe plan to go after it’s finished to see the new additions. But at the end of the tour, you get a complimentary beverage.

⭐️ Lake Taupo: You can see this lake for free of course but if you want to go deeper and see the Maori Rock Carving, you can either take a boat or kayak! There are many different options for both.

⭐️Mt Ruapehu: Unfortunately when we went, the attractions weren’t open. But, in the winter time, many people go to ski, sled, and snowboard! It’s also worth seeing its volcanic landscape! I’ve never seen anything like it before!

⭐️ Aratiatia Rapids: This is formed from a dam opening! You get to see the water rushing in and fill up the river so quickly! The water is so beautiful! The dam opens at 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm (except Tuesday and Wednesday- only 10 am) and last for 20 minutes.
