film tips | how to protect your travel film photos

just got a new camera and looking to shoot film photos overseas? here’s some tips you should take note of to make sure your film rolls don’t get ruined in the process of travelling!!

✅ ALWAYS bring your film rolls in your hand carry!

• the xray scanners for checked in baggage is a lot stronger and will spoil your film

• hand carry xray scanners are usually more mild and safer for your film rolls!

• i put mine in a ziplock bag for easy access should i need it

✅ AVOID passing through the scanner at all if possible

• i will always try to ask the guards to check my film rolls separately if possible as it’ll reduce chances of damage!

• putting it in a ziplock allows them easy access to check manually

• don’t forget the film roll in your camera!!!

✅ get an XRAY safe bag for your rolls

• films with ISO 800 or lower are usually safe enough to pass through the hand carry xray scanners without damage

• but this is the safest option for those that want fullproof protection for their rolls!

• you can buy them online / local stores like filem.sg

• ** damage = photos too dark, overly cloudy/grainy etc

❌ DO NOT drop your camera or OPEN them mid roll

• treat them like your baby or suffer consequences like i did

• i dropped my camera and the shutter jammed so some of my photos were exposed to light leaks ◠̈

• sharing my tragedy photos in the last slide
