TRIED & TESTED - DO AIRPORT SCANNERS RUIN FILM??✈️

🎞️hi guys !! I’ve been posting a lot about film and one of the most common questions I’ve gotten was whether film can go through airport scanners !!✈️

🌟The answer is YES!!! they can safely go through the scanners as long as they are below ISO800 ✅for traditional scanners.

🌟If you’re really worried, you can also pack ur film in a separate bag and pass it to the security guard before passing through the scanners. Most of the time, especially those in Singapore will understand and check the films manually without letting it go through the scanners. However, when u reach the overseas checkpoint it will depend on various factors such as communication barrier, the security guard not being understanding etc

🌟during my trip to Korea, I passed the films in a separate bag to the security guard uncle at Changi airport and I think bc a lot of people in front were doing that too, he just accepted it very quickly and it was super fuss free! However, in Korea, I think they were in a rush so the security guard was quite pissed as to why we were holding the bags instead of putting it in the tray. We tried to explain to him but he just said “ why cannot ?? “ and just put the films in. After that he mentioned that our films were below ISO400 so it was safe. However, one of my friends film was ultramax 400 SO WE WERE A BIT WORRIED, but thankfully the pictures came out fine too !! So to be safe if your film is ISO400 try asking the security guard first if not bopez just let it go thru and hope for the best 🤨 … BUT SHLD BE FINE SINCE NTH HAPPENED TO MY FRIEND’S FILM !!

🌟So yes after this I’ve just been putting my films in my luggage and carry on etc and they prob pass thru the scanners for abt 4x or more LOL 🫢 and they were all still very usable and nth happened to them! My film camera with half used film also passed thru the scanners with no harm to them.

🌟I was using Kodak gold and colorplus which were both iso200 so they were fine! Hope this helps anyone who are planning to travel with film :-)
