penang thrift stores worth visiting 🛒

With thrifting getting more popular, i visited some thrift stores on my recent getaway to penang. Here are two of them that I feel are really worth visiting!

🛒 Fujiyama Jeans & Tokyo No. 18

Think dungarees, leather biker jackets and everything japanese aesthetic. this store carries many curated pieces in good quality. They have a large selection of items displayed neatly and well organised so browsing for things here is really easy! Although that definitely comes at a cost as items here are also on the pricier side. This store also carries many other vintage items, like vintage records, bags and cameras! They also have an in house cafe for visitors to grab a cuppa while waiting for their partner to shop. the shop continues up to the second floor (with more female items here) and you get to try the pieces on as well! really love the aesthetics here but sadly didn’t get anything because the dungaree that caught my eye didn’t fit me as well as i liked ◠̈ worth the visit though!

🛒 Doppelgangerstore

this store is slightly more hidden from the crowd, in a small road around the outskirts of georgetown. the storefront is very unassuming so you might miss it if you’re not paying attention! items here are slightly less curated and it feels more like a local thrift store. prices are a lot lower here as well, and items are mostly cotton tees and pullovers. similar to the previous, the second floor had female items like granny blouses, flare skirts and one pieces. managed to find something cute that i like here — a medium dickies reworked tote that was super soft and cute! Got it for RM40 and i have been using it often ever since i’m back. if you’re feeling more adventurous and have enough patience to scour through the racks this one’s for you!

I personally prefer the second store as the items are cheaper and more casual but i love the aesthetics of the first store more! we had a few more places in mind but didn’t get to visit all due to time constraints, so let me know if you know a store that’s good to visit too and maybe next time when i’m back in penang i’ll pay a visit!
