MALA WITH FRIED POTATO SLICES?! LOCATED IN NTU

𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗽 ($𝟮𝟴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟮-𝟯𝗽𝗮𝘅)

A Hot Hideout has set my expectations for mala so high that I rarely eat at any other mala place now - simply because I haven’t found one that can match its level.

It’s located within NTU, and is especially popular with students and NSFs from the nearby camps during mealtimes. The queue is usually snaking long, so be sure to arrive early!

Their unique selling point would definitely be how they deep fry ingredients such as potato slices, luncheon meat, lotus root, and dory fish. This adds a whole new level of texture and dimension to the dish which is something I haven’t found elsewhere.

For those who can’t take spice, they have a tomato soup base as well! There’s also the option of having your mala stir-fried, if soup is not your thing.

Pro-tips:

- Ask for your fried ingredients to be put into a separate bowl to prevent them from becoming soggy

- Don’t forget the peanut sauce at the condiment counter which pairs really well with the fried ingredients
