Essential Items for Freshman Year👩🏻‍🎓✅

Moving into a dorm for the first time can be exciting and a bit overwhelming. Having the right essentials can make the transition smoother and more comfortable. These are my freshman dorm essentials:

Bedding:

Twin XL Sheets:

Two sets of fitted and flat sheets.

Comforter or Duvet:

Choose a warm and comfortable one.

Pillows:

A couple of pillows for sleeping and perhaps some decorative ones.

Mattress Topper:

For added comfort on the dorm mattress.

Mattress Protector:

To keep the mattress clean and free of allergens.

Bathroom:

Shower Caddy:

Portable caddy to carry toiletries to and from the bathroom.

Shower Shoes/Flip-Flops:

Essential for hygiene in communal showers.

Towels:

Two to three bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths.

Toiletries:

Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, etc.

Bathrobe:

Convenient for trips to and from the shower.

Kitchen:

Mini Fridge:

To store snacks and perishable items.

Microwave:

For quick and easy meals.

Dishware and Utensils:

A few plates, bowls, cups, and a set of utensils.

Reusable Water Bottle:

Stay hydrated and reduce waste.

Snacks and Non-Perishable Food:

Easy-to-make snacks and meals.

Laundry:🧺

Laundry Basket or Bag:

To transport laundry to and from the laundry room.

Detergent and Fabric Softener:

Choose a detergent that’s easy to use.

Drying Rack:

For air-drying delicate items.

Stain Remover:

To tackle stains on clothes.

Comfort and Decor:

Rug:

A small rug to add comfort and style to the room.

Wall Decorations:

Posters, photos, or other decorations to personalize the space.

Desk Organizer:

To keep study supplies in order.

Fan:

For extra ventilation and comfort.

Earplugs and Eye Mask:

For better sleep in a shared space.
