It was actually my first time in Korea last month and one of my goals was to wear a Korean hanbok and take cute pics in one of the palaces! 👘
After googling for awhile, I decided on Gyeongbokgung Palace for its history and size. Out of all the palaces in Korea (I believe there are a total of 5), Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the most beautiful, and remains the largest of all five palaces. 🏯
👉🏻 Here are some tips for you if it’s your first time there too:
- Rent a hanbok with your bestie/partner at any hanbok store outside the palace and you can enter the palace for free! 🤑 Otherwise, you can choose to pay the entry fee which is 3,000 won (~S$3) per adult.
- We rented our hanbok at the first hanbok store we saw, Princess Hanbok, which cost 5,000 won each for rental until 6pm. I paid an additional 5,000 won for hairstyling too 💆🏻♀️
- Wearing a hanbok is actually not a bad experience! It was fuss free as I just put it over my own clothes and it took less than 5 mins 👗
- Bring a tripod if you wanna take couple pics as there are a lot of other quiet spots where you can take pics by yourself. If you just wanna take a pic in front of the main palace gate, you can also mount your tripod and do so as we saw quite a few couples doing that! 📸
- After touring Gyeongbokgung, you can head to Tosokchon Samgyetang for ginseng chicken! It’s apparently very popular but we didn’t get to try it as we were running short of time 🥲
