i found a halal hidden gem in macpherson 💎

📢 Calling all my muslim friends: I FOUND A HIDDEN HALAL GEM FOR YOU!

I was in the macpherson area the other day, wondering what to eat for dinner and chanced upon this muslim-owned restaurant serving malay-western fusion dishes. It’s a 8 mins walk from Tai Seng MRT but definitely worth a try! 🏃🏻‍♀️

Here’s what we tried:

🥂 Shirley Temple & Lemongrass Mojito ($10.90 each)

The drinks were nothing fancy tbh, for its price point, I expected more but I guess they did include chunks of cut fruits in it.

🦆 Duck Wellington $34.90

This was the MVP of the night for me. It’s not everyday you get to try a duck wellington and this was SO GOOD. I love the combination of the tender, juicy duck meat and the finely chopped mushrooms and shallots. The puff pastry was also buttery and gave a good balance to the overall bite.

🐑 Honey Glazed Smoked Lamb Rack 250g $34.90

I’m usually not a big fan of lamb but this was surprisingly to my liking. The apple wood infused glazed rack of lamb was not too dry and the meat was tender to the bite. I especially love the potato gratin that it was served with, though there were admittedly too much potato on the table. 😮‍💨

🦑 Squid Ink Pasta $24.90

I really enjoyed the flavours of this pasta since I don’t usually order squid ink dishes for myself (I always thought they’d stain my mouth/teeth but surprisingly it was manageable). The squid curry was tossed with red chillies which may be a lil spicy for me BUT still damn shioks! The squid itself, on the other hand, could be a little more tender though.

🥩 New Zealand Grassfed Tomahawk Ribs $99

I was shooked by the size of this when it first came out as the portion was HUGE and the meat was GIGANTIC. This was really a feast for the eyes and the belly. It also came with 3 dipping sauces and every meat was so juicy and nicely charred.

👉🏻 TLDR: I would say this is a hit for me as there are so many interesting dishes on the menu. It’ll definitely satisfy everyone’s cravings as there’ll be smth on the menu for everyone! I also love the ambience of the restaurant as it was very cosy and homely. Perfect for a meal out with the whole fam! 😍
