For all exercises you want to do 3 to 4 sets in the 8 to 12 rep range at 60-80% of your 1RM. This is especially for muscle hypertrophy, which means the main goal is an increase in muscle mass. As far as reps this is just a general suggestion. You want to stop at about 4-5 reps away from failure. Don’t go until failure on every set because it’s not sustainable in the long run.
