The Most Beautiful Bookstore in Italy 📖🛶

Libreria Acqua Alta is a MUST-visit when in Venice. It’s truly the definition of a hidden gem behind an unassuming facade.

✨ Its self-proclaimed “the most beautiful bookstore in the world.” It truly lives up to that because it’s beyond unique.

🛶 Its themed interior matches its name with fun canal and water decorations in each of the many rooms.

📚 They have a stack of books you can climb up to see the view of the canal, along with a red gondola docked you can take photos in! The books are in both Italian and Spanish with a few in English. There’s magazines, novels, coffee table books, maps and more.

☔️ The piles of books are in bathtubs and full-size gondolas due to Venice’s constant flooding. The name itself even means “Bookstore of High Water!”

🐱 There’s even resident cats in the shop and tons of cat/dog themed books, calendars and bookmarks.
