sharing my kimono rental experience during my time in Kyoto:
went early to rent the kimono at 9am, was so satistied with the hairstyle and kimono that I chose after we rented the kimono, we walked upslope to kiyomizu-dera temple (about 10 mins walk). we explored the temple, as well as sannenzaka street (which sells street food, souvenirs), we rented for about 2 hours then returned the kimono and went off to explore Tenryuji temple~
tips:
⭐️go early so that there's more selection & also it won't be so hot!
⭐️try not to drink so much water beforehand in case u need to pee
⭐️the road up to kiyomizu-dera temple is upslope (10 mins walk uphill) so do be prepared for that! (i wld say its worth the walk uphill because the view of the temple is stunning)
⭐️u can choose to not wear their traditional wooden shoes (it might be very uncomfortable to walk in), i saw a few people wearing sneakers for comfort (just make sure when you're taking photos, angle the camera so that it won't capture ur feet)
shop name: kimono rental kiyomizu (their ig handle is the same name)
price: 7200 yen for kimono (hairstyle included), cash only, which is around $67 sgd
