must try in gangnam, seoul — mukjeon 묵전

known as a 막걸리 맛집 (makgeolli hot place), be sure to visit mukjeon if you are planning to visit korea! it’s a very homely but modern restaurant, the space is quite small indoors but we went for a saturday lunch and there was no queue! the menu is in korean, but you can speak to the very friendly staff for a translation of the menu ~ the servers are extremely friendly and patient, their service is definitely a 10/10 👍

• gamjajeon (감자 채전) — ₩12,000

• bibim makguksu (비빔 막국수) — ₩8,000

• house makgeolli (묵전 하우스 막걸리) — ₩8,000 (750ml)

• garlic bossam (묵전 명품 마늘보쌈) — ₩38,000

the gamjajeon was so crispy and delicious we ate it all up! definitely the best jeon i have ever eaten i’m not exaggerating … and it’s no wonder they are famous for their makgeolli - if you love rice wine you have to try this because it paired so well with the bossam. they have a wide range of makgeolli but we tried the homemade one, which didn’t disappoint. the garlic bossam also came with two types of kimchi and different sauces, as well as cabbage to make wraps! (TIP: you can ask for refills for the garlic, onions, sauces and more)

the makguksu had such a huge portion - definitely share it if you are not a big eater! it was refreshing and cold and so tasty but i might not be a fan of bibim sauce hence after a while it felt a little too heavy for me,, would want to try their other variations in future too ^_^ and we actually over-ordered lol… this ahjussi beside us was verbally shocked at our table of food… can’t help it when everything on the menu looks so good!
