answering all your eae questions ✨🫶🏻

in this #episode, I will be sharing some eae questions I have received as my school’s ambassador during my recent #eae event and my answers to these questions! if you have any other questions that I have not answered, do ask me in the comments! I will try to answer them to my best ability ~

for some context, I’m currently a final year #earlychildhood student in np and I enrolled into the course through the early admissions exercise (eae) in 2021 which is also the year I was doing my sec 5 olevels (I was an NA student :D)

𝟏. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐀𝐄?

EAE is Early Admissions Exercise for o-levels students, ITE students and working adults but they all have various application dates! but this post is mainly for o-level student since I went through it myself!

O-levels students:

Application stage (Submit course-specific & talent-achievement write-ups): 20 June (Thur) to 26 June (Wed)

Selection Stage (Interview Stage) : 1 July (Mon) to 27 Aug (Tue)

Offer & Acceptance Stage: 6 Sep (Fri) 1400h to 11 Sep (Wed) 2359

Withdrawal Stage: 12 Sep (Thu) to 11 Oct (Fri) 2359h

𝟐. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐀𝐄?

There are 2 main components! first one is the short paragraphs submission ~ there is the 𝟲𝟬𝟬-𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲-𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲-𝘂𝗽 and the 𝟭𝟬𝟬𝟬-𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 &

𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲-𝘂𝗽 :) Next, they will shortlist people for the interviews!! you can get up to 3 interviews for the 3 courses you chose but you will be notified through an email :D Lastly, after the interview, the result will officially be out on 6 September (Friday) 1400h

𝟑. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞-𝐮𝐩𝐬?

for the 600-character course specific write-up, I wrote why am I interested in this particular course? It is because of a certain experience or memory etc !! if you do NOT have a relevant experience, you can write like from your other experience, you have learned something that would be useful and peak your interest for the course ~ or something you aspire to get from this course if you get in :)

for the 1000-character talent & achievement write-up, it’s about all your CCAs achievements, leadership achievements, competitions experiences, and volunteering experiences which contributed to your interest in the course!

𝟒. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬?

for me it was held online since it was Covid-19 era when I applied for EAE in 2021 ~ but now ALL interviews will be held in person in the polytechnics !! for me and my school, it was held in a group setting! So there were 3-4 other candidates with me too 😁 the lecturers/staff will ask you majority questions like your interest for the course etc and maybe do an activity related to the course (I’m not very sure if it is still like this now 🫣)

I know that there is also the portfolio component and people did ask me questions about it too!! do let me know in the comments if I should do another post on what I included ~

𝟓. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐀𝐄?

According to the website, the five polytechnics admit about 20% of their Academic Year intake through Poly EAE. However, the poly intake differ from year to year, as it depends on student demands and applications ~

𝟔. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚?

Although you have secured a spot in EAE, you will still have to go through o-levels of course ~ but the points are more lenient!! you just have to meet a net ELR2B2 aggregate score of 26 points or better (28 points or better for nursing)

But do take note ❗️that some courses have some specific subject requirement so do read up on the individual courses website !! as for ecde, you have to meet a minimum B4 in O-Level English !!!
