FREE EXHIBITION: See Me, See You

I some exciting news for you—there's a free exhibition happening at the National Gallery that you won't want to miss! It's called "See Me, See You: Early Video Installation of Southeast Asia," and it's all about exploring the rich and vibrant art scene of our region through captivating video installations. Prepare to lose yourself in the vivid imagery, thought-provoking narratives, and the sheer creativity that will surround you.

The first part exhibition runs from 05 May till 17 Sep, and the 2nd exhibition will start later in October, so mark your calendars and gather your friends for an art-filled adventure. Trust me, you'll be blown away by the incredible works of Southeast Asian artists and their innovative use of video installations.

Each video installation is a unique expression of the artist's perspective, allowing you to see the world through their eyes. My favourite is CHNG NAI WEE, Sin of Apathy (1991) art installation. He installed a 12-screen video provocative installation, questioning our apathy and indifference towards global tragedies. Another one of my favourite is BAHARUDIN MOHD ARUS, The Medium is the Message (1989). The work involves a moving automaton equipped with a video camera which displays live feed on one of the two television it encircles. The video camera will only move in selected time of the day, so be sure to take off the timing if you want to see it.

This is a pretty immersive experience that will leave you inspired, awestruck, and hungry for more art adventures! The best part? This exhibition is completely free! Yes, you heard it right—free art for all to enjoy. Trust me, you won't regret it. Plus, think of all the amazing Instagram-worthy moments you'll capture! 📸🎉
