One of the concerns we had before going to Alishan was the food. We couldn’t find much info online and were prepared to eat cup noodles and snacks from 7-11 for dinner.
Luckily, we passed by Shan Bin Restaurant and decided to get dinner there. We arrived at 5:30pm and the place was already half filled (it was full and had a queue when we finished our meal at 6+pm).
🍽️ You can get either ala carte or their set meals.
2 pax set for NTD 480 (SGD 21) - 4 veg + 1 soup
4 pax set for NTD 980 (SGD 42) - 5 veg + 1 hotpot
We were craving hotpot (it was so cold!) but didn’t have 4 pax. The waitress suggested that we can order 3 dishes and 1 hotpot instead and the price will be the same at NTD 480.
🥘 Hotpot
The hotpot was huge (similar to the ones you eat during CNY). It was chock full of ingredients like pork, enoki mushrooms, oyster mushroom, cabbage, pumpkin, yam, beancurd skin, tofu, prawns and many more!
🍄 Deep fried oyster mushrooms
The mushrooms were so yummy and the batter was crispy and well seasoned. We really enjoyed munching on them!
🍳 Omelette with veggies
You can’t really go wrong with eggs. We ordered the omelette with veggies as we wanted a more balanced meal with some protein and veggies.
🐓 Mountain chicken
When the waitress recommended this at first, we were afraid that it will be a huge chicken. We were relieved when it was a smaller size (slightly smaller than kampong chicken). The skin was crispy and the meat was tender and didn’t taste gamey at all.
❗️Verdict
It was such a sumptuous meal and we really enjoyed all the dishes (and the beer 🍺!). We will recommend eating here if you are at Alishan!
