My mother is the WORST cook ever. 😣

I hate my mother’s cooking.

My mother doesn’t know how to cook. Not saying this as an unappreciative kid but genuinely she does not know how to cook and shouldn’t even try.

I remember when I was younger she cooked a meal for me and I ended up getting food poisoning from it. Since then I’ve been afraid to eat her cooking.

Because of this, even when my friends invite me to their house to eat, if it’s a home cooked meal; I don’t know why but I can’t help and feel uneasy because of my past experiences. I don’t know why but I just don’t like home cooked food. 🥲

She doesn’t know how to season food she just puts a whopping tablespoon of salt into it. She doesn’t even know how to bake a cake, she’s fed me a watery cake before. She says I complain too much but if everyone in the household says that her cooking is bad and she refuses to acknowledge it, I think it’s pretty bad.

One thing I hate is Chinese New Year when you’d have the reunion dinner. She makes the most disgusting steamboats and refuses to let me prepare the ingredients.

She just pours water into the pot so basically I’m just eating boiled food. You can imagine it’s gross. Now people may say I’m unappreciative because there are others who don’t even have food to eat but I’d rather not even eat.

She doesn’t take the bones out of fish, she leaves the scales on. Doesn’t wash the vegetables, just puts an entire unwashed carrot with the skin on into the hotpot. She also feeds me tons of burnt food. When I throw it away she gets mad.

All my friends who have had the misfortune of eating her cooking tell me it’s terrible and I know it.

I’ve told her to let me do the cooking because at least I know how to do it but nope. She doesn’t let me.

I wish I could relate to people who say they love their mom’s cooking but I really don’t dare to eat anything cooked by mine. She knows she doesn’t know how to cook and doesn’t want to take my advice when I tell her how to do things.

I dread Chinese new year because of the horrible steamboat I’m forced to eat for an entire month straight. I’ve told her we should just order in but she doesn’t want to.

I think most people wouldn’t be able to eat the stuff I’ve eaten growing up. I pretty much have an iron stomach. I can eat leftovers that are 2 weeks old or undercooked food lmao.

I cook at times but I’m not free all the time to cook but CNY is really the period of time where I’d just want to die. Practically nothing is open. 😵

These days are slightly better when I’d force my way to prepare the food first but if I’m at work or I don’t come home earlier - she starts preparing and I have no choice. 🙁
