hidden chinese speakeasy w crocodile meat?! 🐊🥃

istg i'm always finding speakeasies to try because their vibes somehow always attracts me 🤭 this new one that i found is hidden behind a kopitiam fridge 👀 from the outside, you’re first greeted by a clean-looking kopitiam serving wonton noodles and roast meats. but once you see the door, you'll know that that's the real entrance to the restaurant!!

1️⃣ cheeseburger rolls

• 💰 price: $16 for 4 pcs

• ✨ description: ground beef blend with melted cheese in a crispy egg roll skin

• rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: 4

• 💭 thoughts: it's definitely good at being an appetiser, it literally leaves you wanting more. but i found the egg roll skin to be too thick 🥲

2️⃣ soft shell crab with hokkaido scallop crispy noodles

• 💰 price: $70

• ✨ description: crispy sheng mian noodles with soft shell crab, scallops, bak choy, topped with a house special garlic & seafood stock gravy 🍜

• rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: 4.5

• 💭 thoughts: the staff was right when he said this is for 4-5 pax, we had at least 2 full servings each & we were so full by the end of it 💯 not to mention how lovely the soft shell crab was 😍 my fiancé who doesn't eat soft shell crab, loved it - that's a testimony 😉 but -0.5 because of the price 🫠🫠

3️⃣ firecracker chicken & maple fritters

• 💰 price: $18 (small)

• ✨ description: deep-fried diced chicken with chopped dried chillies, cashews, chives & szechuan peppercorns served with crunchy youtiao fritters baked in maple syrup 🌶️🍯

• rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: 5

• 💭 thoughts: HANDS DOWN THE BEST DISH EVER 🩷 the perfect combo of 辣子鸡 & youtiao fritters w maple syrup 😍 for those who can't take spice or you wanna cool down from spiciness, the youtiao fritters w maple syrup is a match made in heaven!!! it's REALLY SPICY, but it's really good & the youtiao fritters made it better 👍🏻

4️⃣ red bean pancake with white rabbit ice cream

• 💰 price: $20

• ✨ description: crispy and sweet red bean pancakes topped with ice cream inspired by a beloved candy 🍬

• rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: 4.5

• 💭 thoughts: the most value-for-money dessert on the menu 😂 each of us had 2 pieces of the red bean pancakes, which was packed with red bean paste (based on my judgment, not the artificial or prepacked kind 👀) + the white rabbit ice cream which was great but could have a stronger flavour!!

5️⃣ cocktails

• 💰 price: $21 each

• concubine cooler: soju, gin, strawberry, lemon, condensed milk, sprite 🍹🍓🍋🥛

• earl grey elixir: glen grant infused black tea, lychee liqueur, mint, lemon

• dragon eye mojito: st germain, sake longan, lime, peated whisky mist

• rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: 4.5

• 💭 thoughts: i had concubine cooler & that was so good!! not strong so definitely a good drink for ladies or even those who can't take too much alcohol 🍹

🛋 ambience & thoughts:

• the entrance walkway to the main sitting area is very unique & not for the faint-hearted 🤪

• we didn't manage to sit at the main sitting area and was given a table at their extended area which was quieter and much peaceful ☺️

• but the main dining area has neon paintings and drawings which gives off more vibes 💁🏻‍♀️

• the menu is also very unique and if you're the adventurous type, go ahead and try crocodile meat!!! 🐊 i would love to head there for a second round to try that 🤪

so if you're looking for a place to have gatherings with your friends or even celebrate a special occasion, i highly recommend The Dragon Chamber!! 🤍
