According to wikipedia Kunafa/Knafeh (Arabic: كنافة) is a traditional Arabic dessert, made with spun pastry called kataifi, soaked in a sweet, sugar-based syrup called attar, and typically layered with cheese, or with other ingredients such as clotted cream, pistachio or nuts, depending on the region 🇸🇦
I've nvr had Kunafa/Knafeh before but i've been wanting to try it for the longest time bc its been viral for quite long alr ++ coconut, cheese, and pistachio are some of my most favourite flavours so it felt like sth i would absolutely love 😍🤤
Well today is was the day i finally got the chance to try it so here's my review:
Okay when it was first served, it smelled SO GOOD it was so fragrant with very strong notes of coconut, cream, and a slight roasted smell akin a littleeee to coffee imo 👃🏻🍭
Okay as for the taste, it was... average or maybe just slightly above average(?) if im being honest like maybe a 6/10 BAHAHAHA like given that its a combination of everything that i love i thought it would taste better? But it kind of didn't blend into the best combination? I think the flavours weren't very strong as well -- like the smell was stronger than the taste. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Also i didnt know the clotted cream and sugar syrup would be served separately but its a gd thing bc you can control the sweetness! 😋
I would give it another shot though, perhaps this place i got the kunafa from wasn't the best place (even though all the other foods i got were AMAZING, will share soon!!) but yeah i would most def try it again, esp if its in chocolate 😆
Have you ever tried kunafa before? Did you like it? Share w me below 😁💫
