Jet Talks: Group Projects in University (suck) 🫠

Okay real talk, group projects are something i've been thinking a lot about lately, and unfortunately not for the best of reasons...

Like, is it only me, or do group projects in uni feel worse than ones in poly/sec sch (idk abt JC bc i was a poly kid) 😶‍🌫️

So far i've had a fair share of good and bad groups but the bad ones really stick out more bc university is supposedly for people serious about their education go to. And everyone in uni is already legally considered an adult, but it seems like some people have yet to mentally become one 🙊

Recently i had probably 2 of the worst group proj experiences in my 3 years of being in NTU. To give context, i do care about my grades (and i know some people dont and my philosophy is that if you dont care about sch or your grades thats fine i guess? you're wasting money but its not rly my business, AS LONG AS you dont implicate others) 😩 Like if you dont want to take your opportunity for higher education seriously be my guest, but dont affect other people!

However some people are so inconsiderate and dont care about the effect their actions have on those around them... 🤨

Today i wanna share about the 1st experience, and how i feel. So this grp proj is a big one and there's 2 components. Its a 5 man group but it feels like a 3 man team 😵‍💫 Basically theres this guy who has only came for ONE class since the semester started (its currently the 8th week of sch) and furthermore he actively ignores all our msgs and plans for meetings. This is such a terrible misfortune bc this module's grp work is about 50% of the total grade which is ridiculous 😭 Additionally there's another member who is ALWAYS at least 20 mins, but sometimes up to 50 mins, late to our meetings and doesnt contribute any ideas... she literally just regurgitates points/ideas that we've alr said but just changes the wording slightly ARGHHH im getting pissed while writing this HAHAHA like its rly so immensely frustrating bc the grps were randomised and i feel so powerless bc im stuck with this group. I dont want to tank everything bc thats not fair to me, but yet i feel like i have to tank everything if i want to even have a chance of getting a good grade... i cant just not care, i dont know how people are able to do that 🤕😢

And yes, i know group projs are supposed to be teaching us of what its "really like" to work as adults, and to that i say, adult group work kinda sucks! Honestly i had more coherent and smoother group projects as a child 💀🤡 I think these people who are so self-centered and have this blatant disregard for other ppl should get failed in schs and fired from their jobs LOL (yes i know its not gonna happen and its not how it works) but i do feel like harsher punishments should be put in place, bc these kinda people never seem to learn...

For the 2nd experience (its lowkey worst imo) i think i've talked enough tdy so i shall cover it on another day, maybe next week?
