It's my first time heading to a retreat, I've heard of silent retreats and yoga retreats and etc etc in Bali and in Phuket or other Islands where you live in resorts and etc. And I found myself this retreat in Chiang Mai.

It's something I had wanted to try ever since a couple of years ago but they always seem so expensive and long, so this place I found, you can stay for a minimum of 3 nights and for as long as you want..

It was a solo retreat for me so I booked just a tent but they ended up giving me a bamboo hut!! I had to share a toilet with the "public" which for me I'm so used to since I'm used to hostel life 😂

What I wanted to say was how great the vibes were; definitely a 10/10 experience especially for someone who loves nature, and is okay if it's occasionally dusty or dirty. I am 100% going back to this place...

The only thing is that the main instructor who is also the owner of the place rotates teaching classes with another instructor (which I have absolutely no complaints about) but I'm just afraid that the next time I go, it would feel different because someone else is teaching.. 😟

Otherwise, it's a super welcoming environment and throughout I felt very well taken care of! We had vegetarian food throughout and the food sort of looks like the one in the 2nd last pic except that this picture is of the food I cooked during the cooking class.

A general schedule of the day looks like this:

7.30am Yoga + Meditation

9.30am Breakfast

10.30am Free and easy Or tours/activities

1pm Lunch

4.30pm Yin/Restorative Yoga + Meditation

7.30pm Dinner

Free time until you sleep (This is where other people usually play games provided)

I really love how there's no pressure at all to participate in anything, you just do whatever works for you, the first day I just took a nap for the whole morning after breakfast and took a walk around the compound alone after lunch and more naps before the afternoon yoga.

So what I got during the meditation when I first got there was I just didn't allow myself to fully experience the upset/anger/unjust. And when the instructor said just allow yourself to be and give yourself the space, I just got the permission to feel so anger and upset and amazingly after that, it was gone. The next few days was very much more enjoyable for me where I could really just be.

This place is really great for first timers, there wasn't the expectation to already be an expert in yoga or meditation. It cost about a total of about 300SGD for 4 days and 3 nights.

I could have disappeared without a trace and got "kidnapped" on the way there though! So always be careful and smart though in all honesty, ChiangMai is really pretty safe for solo travellers.

Let me know if it's somewhere you're interested in going and want to know how to get there! They seem to be really popular as on the days where people are leaving, new people are turning up too. So if you're in need of a restful retreat, do consider this place..
