is it MORE PRODUCTIVE to study inside a WORKBOOTH📚

you've probably seen these booths in shopping malls or community centres, but have you ever wondered what it's like to #study inside one, let alone how effective they are? as i wanted to try something different than studying in the usual places like cafes and libraries, i made a spontaneous decision to study somewhere new aka the switch work booths 😆

— WHAT IS A SWITCH WORK BOOTH

switch is a platform that focuses on creating workspaces all over the city, allowing one to work in and out by a pay-per-minute basis! this is the reason why you'll see the booths at various public spaces such as shopping malls and community clubs! apart from work booths, switch also offers other forms of workspaces such as desk, meeting room and private office 👩🏻‍💻

— PROS

✅ hassle-free check-in process! all you have to do is download the switch app, choose the location you're at, purchase the check-in pass and place the qr code in front of the booth's scanner. sounds like lots of steps but trust me, it takes less than 5 minutes to do all of that 😼

✅ the booth is well-equipped with basic amenities! despite its compact size, the booth literally has everything you need to get you comfortable and productive! among all its features, my favourite has to be the bluetooth speaker as it allows me to blast my music and sing along to it as i get to work (it's something that i do most of the time 🤣)! with these features, it allows me to study with a clear mind and minimal distractions~

✅ a great alternative if you don't want to spend money on food and drinks OR if you want some privacy! the main reason why i ended up going to a switch work booth was because 1) i had my own water and i didn't want to spend extra money just to stay inside a cafe and 2) i just wanted a space to listen to my music and sing along (in this case, library was also out of my available options). given the benefits that were guaranteed to increase my productivity, spending nearly 2 hours studying inside a work booth doesn't seem like a bad idea ☺️

— CONS

❌ this is a personal opinion, but the work booth i was in had no air ventilation at all... while it was bearable at first, i soon found myself feeling stuffy and wanting to leave the booth as soon as i finished my work. It is efficient, but at what cost? 🤧

❌ another consideration is the cost! given that i've spent nearly $7 for nearly 2 hours, i feel like i could spend that same amount at a cafe where i'd get proper ventilation and a drink🥲 besides, i could save money by going to the library, which has no fees.

— MY VERDICT: YES but maybe for an hour at most

overall, I would say my trip here was productive as I was able to complete my work. however, despite the benefits mentioned here, i would rather visit a library or go to cafes that are study and #workfriendly ! as a university student, cost is an important consideration and if i can save some money elsewhere, i'd rather do so. nevertheless, if I'm alone and want to listen to my music freely while drinking, i wouldn't mind choosing a work booth, but probably in a different location!
