The iconic bridal store from “Say Yes to the Dress” was a surreal experience and before we jump into my time there, I wanted to quickly share my tips for those looking to come in the future:
• I booked my appointment a month in advance — dates can fill up quickly!
• Weekend dates require a deposit (which goes towards the dress if you find “the one” there!)
• I chose the last slot on a weeknight. Why? It was a lot quieter and halfway through, the store was empty. It felt like a private appointment!
• Save a bunch of inspo pictures for your stylist to refer to — this will save you a lot of time in pulling dresses, giving you more time to try on!
• Don’t be afraid to ask to try on a veil with your dress for the full effect
• Remember: you’re finding the perfect dress for YOU and your body, not the other way around. ❤️
For my experience:
It was my first time wedding dress shopping! I knew I wasn’t into form-fitting dresses, so I decided to go straight to a-line and straight up ballroom gown! My stylist was super kind and made it such a blast. We pulled a bunch of dresses based on what I showed her and also did a little walk around the store for other options. I realized what I liked and didn’t like (sleeves vs. strapless, sheer tulle vs opaque silk). She found a lot of options in my price range and for fun we tried on an exorbitantly-priced gown that was too heavy to get on my shoulders. I ended up trying 5 gowns, and these were the ones I liked the most! I didn’t see Randy, but I saw a few other familiar faces from the show, and it was really cool to see them doing their job IRL. I think it’s fun to go for the experience, but they also have a huuuuge selection if you aren’t sure where to start.
I haven’t found “the dress” yet, but here are a few thoughts from some of the dresses I tried on. Let me know if you have questions or thoughts!
